Privacy policy
TradeDay is a day planner for tradespeople, operated by Tradeday in New South Wales, Australia. This policy explains what the app stores, what leaves your device, who processes it, and how to get rid of it. It covers the TradeDay website at tradeday.dev and the TradeDay app on web, iOS and Android.
The short version
- By default, everything you enter stays on your device. There is no account and no upload.
- If you create an account, your business data is also copied to our cloud backup so a lost phone is not a lost year.
- Addresses you search or route are sent to Mapbox through our own server, which never sends your identity with them.
- We do not sell your data or your customers' data, and we never have.
- You can delete the cloud copy, and everything on the device, from Setup at any time.
What TradeDay stores on your device
The app keeps your working data in your browser's local storage on the device itself: your business profile and rates, job types, customers, places, jobs and their timings, quotes, materials, drive legs for the vehicle logbook, and any job photos you take. Photos are held in the device's IndexedDB rather than in the main store.
None of this is transmitted anywhere unless you turn on an account, use live routing or address search, or export a file yourself. Clearing your browser data, or using "Erase everything" in Setup, removes it permanently from that device.
What leaves your device, and when
Address search and route sorting
When you search for an address or sort a run with a signal, the addresses or coordinates involved are sent to Mapbox to be geocoded or ordered. These requests go through a server we run on Cloudflare, which holds the Mapbox credentials so they are never in the app, and forwards only the addresses or coordinates — no name, account, or device identifier. If you have no signal, TradeDay sorts the run on the device instead and nothing is sent.
Weather
The day's forecast comes from Open-Meteo. The coordinates sent are rounded to two decimal places, roughly a kilometre, so a specific job site is not disclosed.
Account and cloud backup
Creating an account is optional. If you do, we use Supabase for sign-in and for storing a backup copy of your business data — profile, job types, customers, places, jobs, quotes, drive legs and job photos. Supabase hosts this in its Asia Pacific (Tokyo) region. Access is restricted per account at the database level, so no other TradeDay user can read your rows. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest by Supabase.
Analytics
Where product analytics is enabled, we use PostHog to count anonymous product events — for example that a run was sorted or a quote was created. It is configured not to capture clicked text, not to record sessions, and to mask text, specifically so that customer names and addresses on screen are never sent. We do not send your email address to PostHog.
Payments
If you subscribe to Pro, the payment is handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card details. Stripe tells us only that a subscription is active.
The launch email list
If you enter your email address on the website to be told when the iPhone build ships, that address is stored with Brevo and used for that one announcement. There is an unsubscribe link on it, and we store nothing else alongside it.
Hosting
The website and app are served by Vercel, and our routing server runs on Cloudflare. Both keep standard short-lived request logs, which include IP addresses, for security and abuse prevention.
What we do not do
- We do not sell or rent personal information to anyone.
- We do not use your data, or your customers' data, to train models.
- We do not run advertising or share data with ad networks.
- We do not log customer names, phone numbers, addresses or photos in our own server logs.
Your customers' information
TradeDay holds details about your customers because you put them there. In that relationship you are the one responsible for that information and we process it on your behalf. You should only enter customer details you are entitled to hold, and you remain responsible for how you use them.
How long it is kept
Data on your device is kept until you delete it. Cloud backup rows are kept while your account exists and are removed when you delete the backup or the account. Launch-list email addresses are removed on unsubscribe or once the announcement has been sent.
Deleting your data
- On the device: Setup → "Erase everything" clears all local data on that device.
- In the cloud: Setup → "Delete cloud backup" removes your rows and stored photos from our backend.
- The whole account: email support@tradeday.dev and we will delete the account and everything attached to it.
Your rights
Under the Australian Privacy Act you can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, and complain if you think we have mishandled it. If you are in the UK or the European Economic Area, the UK GDPR and GDPR also give you rights of access, correction, erasure, restriction, portability and objection. Write to support@tradeday.dev and we will answer within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, or to your local data protection authority.
Children
TradeDay is a tool for running a trade business and is not directed at anyone under 16.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects what we do with your data, we will update the date at the top and, for material changes, tell you in the app.
